11-16 OCTOBER 2021
For this wonderful Scottish break, you will be spending 5 nights at The Esplanade Hotel, Dunoon (dinner, bed, and breakfast). Dunoon is one of the Firth of Clyde’s foremost resorts, and famous for its’ Victorian pier and attractive promenade. Your itinerary for the 5 days includes:

Monday 11th – Travel to Gourock & Dunoon

We have an early start from Cheshire, travelling to our first comfort stop at Tebay. From here we travel through to Clydebank and the chance for a wee dram with whisky tasting at Auchentochan. Always worth a stop here (please ensure you have sensible shoes on)! From there it is a short distance to the ferry at Gourock that takes us across to Dunoon (ferry crossing approx. 25 minutes), where our hotel is just a short drive away. Time to relax and unpack before dinner.

Tuesday 12th – Inveraray Castle

Today we visit Inveraray Castle; the Castle that was featured in Downton Abbey in the 2012 Christmas Special. The Castle is in the county of Argyll & Bute on the shore of Loch Fyne, Scotland's largest sea Loch. It has been in the Chiefs of Clan Campbell since the 18th Century and is the home of the Duke of Argyll. Take a woodland walk or enjoy a cup of tea in the traditional tearoom.

In the afternoon, we visit Inveraray Jail, one of the finest and best preserved jail and courtroom complexes in the world. Costumed characters bring the museum to life; watch courtroom trials and talk to the prisoners and then make your escape!

Wednesday 13th – Tour of the Isle of Bute

Today we travel by ferry from Colintraive to Rhubodach to visit the beautiful Isle of Bute. After a tour of the island on our coach you will have time in the Capital, Rothesay, to look around at your leisure.

Thursday 14th – Benmore Botanic Gardens

This morning we travel to Benmore Botanic Gardens. These enchanting gardens are steeped in history and surrounded by dramatic scenery on the Cowal Peninsular in Argyll & Bute. There are over 300 species of Rhododendrons. Lovely accessible walks around the gardens and woodland. Back to Dunoon for the afternoon at your leisure.

Friday 15th – Loch Lomond Cruise

Today we travel to Tarbet, on the Western Shore of Loch Lomond. Here we will enjoy a cruise on the Loch whilst listening to a live informative commentary giving you an insight into the history of the local feuding clans, pillaging Vikings as well as highlighting the sites of natural beauty. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served during the cruise.

Saturday 16th – Homeward bound to Cheshire

On our final day, we check out of the hotel and head off to catch the ferry from Dunoon to Gourock. We continue our journey home with comfort stops on route and anticipate arriving back home late afternoon. Your driver will advise you as we approach Cheshire.
