Destination:Excursion to Kent
Price:£450.00 per person

Come with us to KENT, for 4 nights DB+B at The Best Western Manor Hotel, Gravesend. We leave on Sunday 26th April and stay until Thursday 30th April.

Gravesend has many things to do, namely travel across from Town Pier on a ferry to Tilbury, the largest docks near London. This ferry is free with your bus pass, and runs every 30 minutes. There is also a loop line from Gravesend Railway Station into London, with trains also running to Margate.

Next we visit the GURUNONALL DERBA GURDWAN. This Gurdwan Temple is an iconic testament to the Sikh community. Absolutely spectacular with beauty within.

When inside you will be transferred to the Punjab. Also a short bus ride to Bluewater shopping. We leave on the Sunday morning from your chosen pick up, on route we will have a breakfast and comfort stop. We then join our coach to journey towards Bedfordshire to WREST PARK, is a House owned from 2006 by English Heritage. They have spent these last few years restoring the house and gardens to former glory. See the Bell Jacks, now situated back on the roof, beautiful panelled walls and furnishings. Walk the gardens, smell the many fragrances of this English Garden, see the Chinese bridge and temple and walk the Ladies Lake, now fully restored. Time here for a cafe visit!

We then travel towards our Hotel for 4 nights.

Monday- This morning we join our coach for a visit to HEVER CASTLE & GARDENS. This was the family home of Anne Boleyn, Henry V111,s ill fated second wife.

Although strangely the house became the property of Anne of Cleves, Henry's 4th wife, ( (Oh how the plot thickens). The garden here is really down to William Waldorf Astoria, Americas richest man, who bought the property in 1903, and spent, in today's money some £110million creating this huge acreage and huge man made lake, dug out by hand! A wonderful sight to behold. The castle is now a hotel with much fine furniture & antiques. The Hours Room has two prayer books signed by Anne Boleyn. The castle is centred between a double moat! Then back to hotel for Dinner.

Tuesday - Today a free day, perhaps do some of the things mentioned at the beginning of this itinerary.

Wednesday- This morning we visit pretty WHITSTABLE along the Kent coast with its pastel painted shop fronts & beach huts. On the West Beach there is the Old Neptune Pub, where you can have a pint and few oysters. They say “The Forge” a beach shack sells the freshest & finest fish n chips. The railway line to Canterbury is now a cycle route and you can hire bikes from here. Whitstable is renowned for its oyster beds and from Roman times until present day the beds below the water mark are collected. The Harbour has quirky gift shops and eateries, you may even see David Essex who walks his dog around here. Back then to dine at our hotel.

Thursday- This morning we pack our bags and journey towards home. Firstly we call at CHARTWELL, the family home of WINSTON CHURCHILL, who lived here for nearly 40 years. See it as the family have just popped out for a few minutes, exactly as it was in the 1930's. Explore the museum rooms, where on display are the gifts he received from countries all over the world.

We leave here for the journey home with a comfort/food stop on route. Time of arrival in Cheshire will be made known as and when.
